New SEAI grant rates from 6 October 2026

Solar panels at no cost to eligible homeowners

Homeowners receiving certain social welfare payments can now apply for a higher SEAI grant: up to €8,400 towards solar panels, plus €600 towards a home battery of 5kWh or more.

The full €8,400 is for a system of 4kWp or more. Our 9-panel system (about 4.1kWp) is sized to get it, so the grant covers the panels in full and an eligible homeowner pays nothing for them. Want a battery too? The €600 battery grant comes off its price. We handle the grant from start to finish, and we’ll check if you qualify.

Optional home battery of 5kWh or more: the €600 battery grant comes off its price. We’ll price it in your quote.

Extras, such as more panels, are priced separately.

Subject to grant approval and a roof survey. For new SEAI applications from 6 October 2026. Fusion Solar is a registered contractor under the Solar PV programme.

Who qualifies

SEAI decides who qualifies. The homeowner needs to be receiving one of these Department of Social Protection payments:

  1. Fuel Allowance
  2. Jobseeker’s Allowance for over six months, with a child under seven
  3. Working Family Payment
  4. One-Parent Family Payment
  5. Domiciliary Care Allowance
  6. Carer’s Allowance, living with the person they care for
  7. Disability Allowance for over six months, with a child under seven

And the house must have its own electricity meter number (MPRN), have been built and lived in before 2025, and not have had a solar panel grant before.

Not on one of these payments? The standard grant is up to €1,800 for solar, depending on system size, plus €600 for a battery, so up to €2,400 in total. Fill in the form anyway and we’ll price it for you.

Grant questions

Questions people ask

Yes, if you qualify and the survey shows our 9-panel system suits your roof. The grant is paid to us, so there's nothing to pay for the panels. If your roof can only take a smaller system, the grant may be lower, and we'll tell you the cost before anything goes ahead. Subject to grant approval and a roof survey.

The battery is optional. The €600 battery grant comes off its price, and we'll price the battery in your quote.

Not for the 9-panel system on its own. If you add a battery or choose a bigger system, you pay the difference as a deposit, and your quote shows the amount before anything goes ahead.

We'll know before any work starts, because SEAI has to approve the grant first. We'll then price the job on the standard grant and you decide.

Yes, SEAI needs one after the install. We arrange it and the cost is covered.

SEAI also runs a fully funded scheme for homes built before 2006. SEAI chooses the upgrades, and there is usually a wait. If you want solar now, this grant is the quicker route.

When we call you, we'll ask for the homeowner's PPS number and date of birth and check them on SEAI's system. That tells us whether the homeowner qualifies before anything else goes ahead. We never ask for these on this website.
